Masterclass: Feather Headdress Workshop with Anna Kolusniewski

Have you always wanted to feel like a showgirl in your very own theatrical feather headdress? Well this is the class for you!

In this four hour workshop students will be shown everything they need to know from design to construction to create a professional finish. Beginning with making the base from thermoplastic and bonding lace fabric, how the cut and shape feathers and create metal flowers from tin and how to colour. Then how to construct the piece using a heat and glue gun, and finally embellishing with a variety of beautiful vintage and new jewels, beads and metal components. This class is suitable for complete beginners to those with some experience. Students will be allocated a certain number of feathers and sizes, if you want to add extra extra feathers please bring to the class, extras can also be purchased on the day from tutor.

This class is taught by jewellery and costume designer Anna Kolusniewski from @aaisforart @annakolusniewski @elysiancreations, and art teacher with 25 years experience.

What you will learn:

  • How to design and construct a headpiece.

  • How to cut and mould thermoplastic using a heat gun.

  • How to embellish using metal components, jewels and beads.

  • A completed feather headdress and velvet head.

  • Champagne on arrival.

  • Millinery skills.

  • red

  • green

  • yellow

  • orange

  • white

  • blue
