Burlesque Basics

Are you looking for a fun casual course to spice up your life? Well, we've brought in the perfect course for you!
Burlesque Basics is a beginner friendly course where you'll learn all of the key skills every burlesque novice needs in their tool kit.

Lines, extensions and hand movements
Vintage Dance Styles
Simple striptease
Beginner Character development
Develop confidence and a basic understanding of the art of burlesque! This is the perfect class to join before jumping into the deep end with our 8 week showcase courses!

Belly Dance Technique
Duration: 8 Week Term
Class Level: Open Level
Are you captivated by the sensual, glamorous and passionate movements within belly dance?
Join us in our casual belly dance classes where you will not only discover new ways to move your body, but also empower your self-confidence and inner strength.
This course will teach you about the basics of Middle Eastern, North African, Hellenic & Turkish dance in an easy-to-digest method, including how to:
Explore isolations in the upper and lower body.
Expand your knowledge of countless belly dance combos.
Transition between moves with ease and fluidity.
This course is the perfect complement to our Belly Dance Deities Showcase Course for any student new to bellydance or wanting to refine their technique.
This is an open level class suitable for all genders and levels of experience.
Chair Technique
Duration: 8 Week Term
Class Level: Open Level
Chairs aren’t for sitting on – they’re for dancing on! Come and learn the basics of chair dancing while increasing flexibility, fitness and fun with an added sprinkle of musicality too!
These casual classes will introduce you to the skills needed to develop seductive and sexy chair routines, while learning movements and positions that will increase your cordination, strength and confidence.
This is an OPEN level class suitable for all genders – Beginners Welcome!

Flirting with Fans
Duration: 8 Week Term
Class Level: Open Level
Needing your fan fix? Join us for a beginner friendly flutter with fans with resident fan tutor Poppy Cherry who has over 15 years experience feather fan dancing - you could almost say she's a fan!
Get those wrists moving with a new song each class with a range of styles and choreography to work towards broadening your repertoire of fan dance moves, poses, and also just have fun!
Together these will enrich your knowledge of a wide range of fan dance moves and poses.
Beginners are welcome. This is also a fabulous supplement for any student wishing to get extra fan dance practice between terms or to supplement their feather fan showcase courses.
Looking to practice a particular grip style? Generally weeks 1-4 focus on the 'Neo' grip style and weeks 5-8 focus on the 'Classic' grip style, with occasional fun special theme classes too!
Ostrich Feather Fans will be supplied for use during the class.

Floorwork Technique
Duration: 8 Week Term
Class Level: Open Level
Get slinky on the floor and learn some new tricks!
This technique class designed to increase your mobility & flexibility whilst learning sexy floor work transitions and moves to add to your burlesque repertoire!
Learn the fundamentals of building your body to feel strong, flexy and sexy. This class incorporates elements of dance, yoga and pilates to help you find your flow with slinky, sensual floorwork building up to figures, shapes and rolls.
This is a great class for those keen to work towards joining the Floorwork Showcase class in future, or for solo students keen to up their floorwork game! This class is open level and is suitable for beginners and intermediate students alike, as students can work at their own level.
NOTE: Kneepads are ESSENTIAL for this class - bring your own or kneepads are also available to purchase at reception
Slow & Sultry
Duration: 8 Week Term
Class Level: Open Level
Slow-it-down with Whisky Falls.
Learn how to twist, turn and stretch your body in the most sensual of manners, leaving you feeling refreshed and empowered at the same time. Whisky will incorporate her contemporary dance training with her erotic dance expertise to help you learn to express yourself like the sensual masters that you all are. Each class Whisky leads you through ideas, themes or skills that can help you reach new movement heights.
This is a study in holistic approaches to performance; For those who are willing to go on an expedition into “self-seduction”, finding out what sensuality means to you through slow movement, raw expression and embodiment.
Students will tune into their own body and play with the small subtleties of how their body moves, and how moving their body makes them feel sultry.
No prerequisites required.
This is an OPEN level class suitable for all genders – Beginners Welcome!

For those of you who prefer a more Flirtatious attitude - grab yourself a multi-class pass! Valid for any Tech Class, online or In-studio.

Class Levels
At Masion Burlesque we cater for all dance and experience levels, however finding the right fit will ensure you enjoy your time with us! Please read the drop down menu to the right carefully to ensure you have the pre-requisites for each experience level.

If you are brand new to burlesque or without any dance background we recommend starting with one of our “Beginner Level” Courses.
In our Beginner level courses you will learn the specific skills within burlesque and dance to feel confident and safe doing movements.
Beginner “Showcase” courses DO NOT include a pastie reveal, however striptease may be involved.

All of our “Open Level” courses are beginner friendly if you’re up for a challenge! Anyone with dance history is more than welcome to begin in an Open Level class.
Open level ensures that both students with experience and students who are new to burlesque will learn new skills and gain the performance experience.
Please read the description of each course carefully. Some Open Level Courses DO include a nipple pastie reveal, and some DO NOT. This will primarily be due to the class being “dance based” or “burlesque based.”

Intermediate courses are designed for students who have been dancing with us for a while, or have a strong background in dance elsewhere.
We usually require students to have completed 2 x Beginner or Open Level courses before moving up to intermediate.
We are strict on students working up the ranks from Beginner Level in coures such as Fan Dance, Floorwork and Chair Dance as these are specialised skills rarely taught at regular dance studios.
However, if you have a strong background in dance any of our “dance based” courses will be a good fit for you.
Please ensure you read the “pre-requisities” for each course before you proceed with the booking.
Usually “Intermediate level” courses are not suitable for students with pre-existing injuries.

Advanced level courses are only for those students who have been dancing with us for a while. These courses usually require experience with a specific skill that we teach, so please ensure you have experience with us before booking into an Advanced level course.
